Troon became Royal Troon after its centenary in 1978. Royal Troon is well established as host of the Open Championship which was last hosted in 2016. Royal Troon has many famous holes none more so than its 11th presenting a sea of gorse, heather and rough with the railway line running perilously alongside the fairway constantly reminding you of the out of bounds. Then there is, of course, the short 8th hole or more famously known as the postage stamp. After your round visitors are welcome in Royal Troon’s delightful Old Clubhouse.
